15 sources
  • Villanova University researchers found readers rated ChatGPT-generated short stories higher than those by published authors, according to a study published by Cambridge University Press.
  • Participants identified AI-written text at rates no better than chance — 39.93% in one experiment and 51.97% in another — across nearly 2,600 subjects.
  • The findings come as universities including Yale and Johns Hopkins ban reliance on AI-detection tools due to high false-positive rates, per Inside Higher Ed.
