EU truckmakers seek 3-year delay to 2030 CO2 targets

  • CEOs of DAF Trucks, Daimler Truck, Iveco, Scania and others urged the EU on Monday to postpone 2030 heavy-duty CO2 rules by three years.
  • Only 2.4% of new heavy-duty vehicles in the bloc are zero-emission, far below the trajectory needed to meet a mandated 43% CO2 cut by 2030, according to ACEA.
  • The push comes as EU policymakers already debate easing the bloc's 2035 combustion-engine car ban and overhauling emissions trading system revenues.
