tweaktown+1tweaktown+1tweaktownXiaomi on Monday unveiled the XRing O3, its latest in-house flagship processor and what the company claims is the world's first smartphone system-on-a-chip to support next-generation LPDDR6 memory. Built on TSMC's Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited 3nm N3P process node, the chip will debut in the Xiaomi 18 Fold and Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max, both expected to ship in September.tweaktown+1
The XRing O3 packs 24 billion transistors, up from 19 billion on last year's XRing O1, with much of the additional silicon devoted to a larger 16MB SLC cache and a redesigned CPU that ditches efficiency cores entirely. The all-big-core configuration combines two ARM C1-Ultra cores at up to 4.35GHz, four C1-Premium cores at 3.68GHz, and four C1-Pro cores at 3.15GHz.tweaktown
Xiaomi claims Geekbench 6.5 scores of 3,945 single-core and 15,221 multi-core, representing 31% and 61% gains over the O1 respectively. The multi-core result reportedly edges out Apple's M4 desktop chip. In AnTuTu V11, the O3 scored more than 5.2 million points.hi-tech+1
On the graphics side, a 16-core Mali-G2 Ultra NX GPU with dedicated neural cores delivers what Xiaomi says is 85% higher graphics performance, 182% better ray tracing, and 64% lower power consumption compared with the O1.tweaktown
The O3 runs LPDDR6 at 10,667Mbps across a 4×24-bit bus, providing 113.8GB/s of peak bandwidth — 48% more than the O1. Chinese memory maker CXMT is reportedly supplying the LPDDR6 chips, making this the first flagship mobile SoC to use domestically developed Chinese LPDDR6. CXMT is targeting mass production in the second half of 2026, putting it in early competition with SK Hynix , which completed development of its own 16Gb LPDDR6 chips in March.tweaktown
The XRing O3 is part of a wider semiconductor push by Xiaomi, which also introduced the XRing O100, a 6nm AI accelerator for its MiMo large language model, and a 3nm XRing D100 chip for autonomous driving, both slated for commercial deployment next year. Ivan Lam, a senior analyst at Counterpoint Research, told the South China Morning Post that Xiaomi's semiconductor progress placed it in "the top tier of China's self-developed mobile systems-on-a-chip."scmp
Initial shipments of the Xiaomi 18 Fold are reportedly targeting 200,000 to 300,000 units. The company has pledged at least 50 billion yuan — roughly $7 billion — over the next decade to reduce its reliance on outside suppliers such as Qualcomm and MediaTek.tweaktown
