  • Forskare från Stanford och partners har funnit att utsläpp från permafrost, skogsbränder, våtmarker och sjöar kan bidra med 0,2°C–0,4°C extra uppvärmning till år 2100.
  • Upptinad permafrost står ensamt för hälften av dessa utsläpp, vilka i stor utsträckning saknas i de klimatmodeller som används av IPCC.
  • Huvudförfattaren Sam Abernethy kallar resultaten en "dold multiplikator" och menar att nuvarande modeller troligen överskattar hur mycket koldioxid mänskligheten har råd att släppa ut.
