bloombergabout.instagram+1bloomberg+1Meta Platforms on Tuesday began rolling out Muse Image, a new image-generation model and the first such release from Meta Superintelligence Labs, as the company moves to compete more aggressively in the fast-expanding generative AI market.
The model is launching inside the Meta AI chatbot and will be embedded across the company's social applications, including Instagram and WhatsApp, according to Bloomberg. Users can generate images from text prompts or ask the model to alter existing pictures. Instagram is also adding more than 30 new AI-powered effects in Stories built on Muse Image.bloomberg+2
Beyond consumer features, Meta said advertisers will soon gain access to Muse Image for creating marketing materials. The model uses visual reasoning and self-refinement capabilities to generate ad variations, according to Investing.com, with Meta saying Muse Image can interpret creative direction to produce multiple outputs for campaigns. The advertising push reflects Meta's broader effort to monetize its AI investments, as CNBC reported the company is seeking to attract both creators and advertisers to its AI offerings.cnbc+2
Muse Image marks the second model release from Meta Superintelligence Labs, following Muse Spark, a language model the company introduced in April. Axios characterized the image model as the latest test of Meta's effort to close the gap with cutting-edge AI rivals. The launch comes after Meta spent billions rebuilding its AI lab under Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang, Bloomberg reported.axios+2
