bloombergbnamericas+1bloombergHuawei Technologies has built a clean energy business generating more than $11 billion in annual revenue, positioning the Chinese telecom giant as an increasingly important player in the global energy transition even as it faces restrictions in Western markets.
Huawei Digital Power Technology Co., the company's energy subsidiary, recorded sales exceeding $11 billion in 2025, accounting for a relatively small but fast-growing share of the parent company's overall $126 billion in revenue, according to Bloomberg. The unit offers solar inverters, battery energy storage systems, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, with revenue growing faster than Huawei's other divisions.ground+2
The business has helped customers generate 695.1 billion kWh of green power and save 19.5 billion kWh of electricity, according to Huawei's corporate disclosures. While the division remains less well-known than Huawei's smartphone and telecoms equipment businesses, it has become part of the backbone of the global clean energy supply chain.huawei
With the United States and parts of Europe maintaining restrictions on Huawei's operations, the company has increasingly turned to emerging markets. Brazil has become a focal point. In December 2025, Huawei Digital Power signed a memorandum of understanding with SECPower to expand battery energy storage systems across Brazil's commercial, industrial, and agricultural sectors. The company plans to implement four battery storage projects in Brazil during 2026, according to BNAmericas.ess-news+1
Brazil held its first electricity auction for grid-scale batteries in April 2026, with multiple Chinese companies including Huawei expected to bid, Bloomberg reported earlier this year. A Huawei-linked consortium also won a contract described as Brazil's largest energy storage project, involving 110 MW of photovoltaic capacity and 120 MWh of storage across 24 locations.seetaoe+1
The scale of Huawei Digital Power's revenue now approaches that of Tesla's energy division, underscoring how Chinese firms have moved beyond manufacturing solar panels and batteries to providing complete energy infrastructure solutions. As Western markets grow more restrictive, Huawei's strategy of embedding itself in the energy systems of developing economies across Latin America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East could prove difficult for rivals to counter — and for governments to unwind.bloomberg
