The pan-European STOXX 600 closed 1.4% higher, while London's FTSE 100 gained 1.7% and France's CAC 40 rose 1.65%, according to CNBC. The gains reversed losses from Wednesday, when the index had fallen 0.4%.cnbc+1

While the unemployment rate dipped to 4.2%, the decline was driven by roughly 720,000 people leaving the labor force, pushing the participation rate to 61.5% — its lowest since March 2021.morningstar+2
