glavnoe+1modernglavnoe+1Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sunday that Ukraine struck an oil refining facility in Tobolsk, Siberia — more than 2,500 kilometers from Ukrainian territory — marking a dramatic expansion of Kyiv's long-range strike capabilities and vowing continued deep attacks inside Russia.
In his evening address on August 10, Zelensky highlighted the strike on the Tobolskneftekhim petrochemical complex in Tobolsk, Tyumen Region, calling it "a very significant achievement."glavnoe+1
"The distance is significant — more than 2,500 kilometers, and this is Tobolsk in Siberia. This region is now within reach of our deep strikes," Zelensky said. He added: "There will be more Ukrainian precision strikes to show Russia and the Russian people that peace is needed."fakti+1
Zelensky said he had met with military leadership, including the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Chief of the General Staff, and commanders of the Unmanned Systems Forces, to identify additional priorities and adjust tasks for August to make deep strikes more effective.glavnoe
Zelensky also warned that Russia is preparing to deploy additional North Korean troops and has received new ballistic missiles from Pyongyang. He said North Korean-made ballistic missiles were used in strikes on Zaporizhzhia that killed at least six people and injured 19. The Ukrainian president stressed that combat use of North Korean weapons allows the DPRK to improve them, creating risks for Japan, South Korea, and other countries in the region.modern+1
Separately, during a visit to Belgrade on August 8, Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine has reached an agreement with Washington for monthly deliveries of Patriot interceptor missiles, though he said the volume falls short of meeting Ukraine's air defense needs and that the number expected in 2026 would be lower than in 2025.newsonair
Zelensky cited data from what he described as internal sociological surveys in Russia showing that the number of people who want the war to end is growing. He said this sentiment must become more tangible so that "Putin and his administration, FSB agents and everyone else in the aggressor state understand unequivocally that there is no alternative to peace."fakti+1
The president also declared that for the first time in its history, Russia "no longer has a safe strategic rear and cannot wage war without assistance from North Korea."glavnoe
