Anglo American is in discussions to sell its De Beers diamond business for approximately $1 billion, according to Bloomberg, a price that underscores how far the world's largest diamond miner has fallen in value amid a prolonged industry crisis.

Anglo American has chosen the Global Diamond Consortium as its preferred bidder for its 85% stake in De Beers, Botswana's Minister for State President, Defence and Security Moeti Mohwasa told parliament on Friday.
