The imaging and sensing business was the largest contributor to earnings growth, with operating profit more than doubling on stronger sales of mobile image sensors, an improved product mix, and favorable currency movements. The Game & Network Services division posted a 37% rise in operating profit, aided by U.S. tariff refunds and exchange rate gains, while PlayStation monthly active users reached a record 125 million in June.investing+2
Sony sold 1.6 million PlayStation 5 consoles during the quarter, roughly a third fewer than the year-earlier period. The company said it expects to benefit from the launch of "Grand Theft Auto VI" on November 19, as Microsoft's Xbox business retrenches.investing
