theblock+1theblockworldWorld, the identity-focused crypto project co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Alex Blania, has begun rolling out a self-custodial financial application called World Money in more than 150 countries, positioning it as a one-stop platform for stablecoin payments, investing, earning rewards, and sending digital assets globally.theblock+1
Announced on Wednesday, World Money combines features previously scattered across multiple apps into a single self-custody wallet. Users can hold balances in stablecoins denominated in eight currencies, send and receive digital assets internationally for free, trade tokens and real-world assets like gold, and deposit eligible assets into yield programs powered by decentralized lending protocol Morpho, according to the company's official blog post.world
The app also integrates with prediction-market platform Kalshi and offers virtual accounts powered by Bridge, allowing users in supported regions to receive paychecks directly into the app.theblock+1
A central feature of the launch is a deepened partnership with Stripe, which powers a new funding flow initially available in the United States. The integration lets users convert funds from Apple Pay into stablecoins that typically arrive in their wallet within minutes, addressing a longstanding friction point for self-custodial wallets.world+1
World Money leans on the project's biometric World ID system as a differentiator. Users who verify their identity at an Orb device gain access to boosted rewards on eligible Earn programs, with the company framing human verification as increasingly vital as AI-generated fake accounts proliferate.bloomingbit+1
"Money moves differently when accounts belong to people," the company said in its announcement. "As AI makes fake accounts cheaper and more convincing, a network of humans becomes the thing money rails can't fake."world
World, developed by Tools for Humanity, began its pivot toward super-app functionality in March 2025 when it added crypto payments and chat to its existing app. Circle later introduced native USDC USD Coin to the platform that summer, laying the groundwork for the broader financial services now packaged in World Money.theblock
