reuters.com.reuters.com+1.aljazeera.com.Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Sunday, November 1, that it had detained a Russian minor accused of threatening a terrorist attack at Moscow's Tsaritsyno park. The arrest followed a tip-off from the United States, Reuters reported, citing Interfax. The FSB publicly thanked Washington. "We are grateful to the American side for providing the information," the agency said, according to Reuters and AFP. The case is a rare public example of security cooperation between the two countries while they remain at odds over the war in Ukraine.reuters.com+1
The FSB said the suspect posted photos of himself on TikTok wearing tactical clothing and a balaclava and holding an object that looked like an automatic weapon. He also posted photos taken at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve with the caption "I found a place," Reuters reported. Officers who searched his home found the clothing and accessories seen in the posts, the agency said. It added that his phone showed a subscription to a neo-Nazi Telegram channel and "a significant number of searches concerning terrorist attacks, mass killings and other acts of violence."reuters.com
The FSB has not released the suspect's name, his age or any charges, Infobae reported. Russia's Investigative Committee is deciding what legal steps to take. So far, all the information about the case has come from Russian security services. That means it is not possible to check independently how far any plan had gone, Euronews noted.es.euronews.com+1

The US has warned Moscow about attacks before. In March 2024, it alerted Russia weeks before gunmen attacked the Crocus City Hall concert venue outside Moscow, killing more than 140 people, according to Al Jazeera. Russian intelligence chief Sergei Naryshkin later said that warning was not detailed enough to identify the attackers, Newsweek reported.aljazeera.com+1
Stephen Blank, a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, told Newsweek that "this kind of notification is rare given the tensions in the bilateral relationship."newsweek.com
