The May data captures a period just before the peace agreement between the United States and Iran, which has since triggered a sharp correction in oil prices. Early indications suggest the energy-driven spike may already be fading. Eurostat's Euronext N.V. flash estimate for June showed euro area headline inflation falling to 2.8% from 3.2% in May, below market expectations of 3.0%. Energy's contribution eased to 8.7% from 10.8%, while services inflation also declined.tradingeconomics+2
