businessinsiderbusinessinsider+1theinformation+1Meta is preparing to launch an AI agent capable of booking restaurants, ordering food, finding dog sitters, and controlling a user's Spotify playlist, according to an internal memo seen by Business Insider.
The product, known internally as "Project Hatch," is described in the memo as "a personal agent that's always working on your behalf to help achieve your goals and improve your life, your health, your relationships, your personal finances and more." The memo was shared with employees after Hatch was made available for testing beyond its Meta Superintelligence Labs group.businessinsider
The memo details a range of capabilities that distinguish Hatch from a conventional AI chatbot. "It has its own computer so it can do anything you can do online, like filling out forms, buying something, or performing deep research," the document states. Hatch connects directly to apps including email, calendar, Instagram, Spotify, and OpenTable, and works in the background "even when the app is closed."businessinsider
Users can customize the agent's personality and permissions. "You name it, shape how it talks and decide what it pays attention to. If it gets something wrong, tell it and it adjusts," the memo reads. A product manager said they had built a Hatch agent named Veda that helped find a new dog sitter, purchase a Father's Day gift, and change their sleep habits.businessinsider
Early versions of Hatch have also been trained to interact with services including DoorDash, Etsy, Reddit, Yelp, and Microsoft Outlook, according to internal documents reviewed by The Information.techstrong+1
Internal documents place Hatch's launch in late August or early September, according to The Information, though timelines could still shift. Meta has considered a tiered pricing structure, with a premium subscription costing as much as $199.99 per month for higher usage limits. A new AI model codenamed Watermelon is targeted for an October release.firstpost+2
The launch aligns with CEO Mark Zuckerberg's AI manifesto published earlier this month, in which he argued for distributing superintelligence widely. "Rather than centralizing superintelligence, we should distribute it widely and give every person the ability to direct it," Zuckerberg wrote. Meta plans to spend between $130 billion and $145 billion on capital expenditures in 2026 to support its AI ambitions.fastcompany
Hatch enters a crowded market. Google Alphabet Inc. launched Gemini Spark earlier this year, while OpenAI and Anthropic also offer agents capable of controlling users' computers. A Meta spokesperson declined to comment on the plans.businessinsider
