unite+1.unite.theverge.Meta on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, rolled out a set of AI-powered tools that let Facebook users steer what shows up in Feed and Reels. The main feature, called Your algorithm, is a dedicated space where people can add and manage the topics they want to see. The company says recommendations "respond right away" once users state their interests.unite+1
The launch brings controls Meta first tested on Instagram and Threads to its largest platform. Meta also says it is relying more on large language models (LLMs) to rank content. Reuters reported the launch as "Your Algorithm" plus new feedback options built for "real-time ranking adaptation".moomoo
Users can open Your algorithm, or mark a post "interested" or "not interested," from the three-dot menu that appears on every post. Meta has redesigned that menu to make the tools easier to find. According to The Verge, the interested and not-interested buttons may also appear under posts. After a user taps one, Meta "may ask follow up questions for more detail on what you liked or disliked," the company said. "You can easily tell us, in your own words, what you want to see more or less of, and your recommendations will update in real time".theverge+1
Meta says its ranking systems already guess users' interests from thousands of signals, such as likes, comments and what people watch. It says LLMs are now helping those systems improve.unite
> "LLMs can incorporate the interests, context, and intent behind natural language, unlocking an algorithm you can actually talk to," Meta said, adding that recommendations adapt "within the same session to reflect what matters to you right now."theverge
Instagram introduced Your Algorithm on December 10, 2025, starting with the Reels tab in the United States. It added the feature to Explore on April 15, 2026. By June 10, the feature covered Feed, Reels and Explore worldwide in English. On Instagram, the tool shows an AI-generated summary of the topics shaping a user's recommendations and puts labels such as "From Running" on recommended posts.unite
On Threads, Meta launched Dear Algo on February 11, 2026. Users type "Dear Algo" in a public post, followed by what they want to see more or less of, and their feed adjusts for three days. Dear Algo is available in the US, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.unite
Some commentators see the move as a bet that giving users visible control will help keep them on the platform, especially as regulators press for more transparency about how algorithms work. For advertisers, the tech site The Tech Buzz argued, more precise preferences could sharpen ad targeting but might cut down on the unplanned discovery that leads to impulse buying. Meta shares rose on the day of the announcement. Meta has not said whether the Facebook tools will reach all users at once or which countries and languages will get them first.techbuzz+1
