The Edge gives Alphabet a mid-priced option in its wearables lineup. It sits well below the Pixel Watch 5, which starts at $400, and not far above the Fitbit Air.9to5google
The Edge is a slim band with an OLED display. It shows maps, notifications and weather, and it has music controls. Owners who pay for a premium subscription can use Google Health Coach, which builds personal fitness and health plans. A feature called Health Guardian monitors key health indicators.pluang
The tracker records up to 100 activities automatically and offers more than 50 exercise modes. Google also claims better GPS and more accurate sleep tracking. The device is water-resistant and lasts up to seven days on a charge. It will be in stores from Oct. 27. A Stephen Curry edition will cost $219.99.pluang
Before the launch, leaks reported by The Verge pointed to a 1.34-inch always-on OLED touchscreen and built-in GPS. The leaks also mentioned an accelerometer, a barometer, an altimeter and a gyroscope, plus possible alerts for atrial fibrillation and irregular heart rhythms. Engadget reported leaks saying the battery would last about two days with the always-on display turned on. 9to5Google pointed to earlier leaks about Gemini integration and iPhone support. Google had not confirmed those specific details in the coverage reviewed.theverge+2
Google first teased the device on Oct. 8 in posts on X and Instagram. The posts showed what looked like a side button with the caption "Get an Edge on your health. 10.12.26." Droid Life reported that the Edge has a small display but does not run the full Wear OS software used on the Pixel Watch.engadget+2
The launch is the second Fitbit-branded tracker Google has released this year, after the Fitbit Air. Alphabet shares rose modestly in trading on Monday.moomoo+1
