ign+1igndexerto+1Santa Monica Studio used its San Diego Comic-Con panel on Friday to set a launch date for God of War Laufey and reveal that another entry in the franchise is already underway. The PlayStation 5 Sony Group Corporation exclusive will arrive on February 16, 2027, the studio confirmed during its Ballroom 20 presentation.ign+1
God of War Laufey stars Deborah Ann Woll as Faye, also known as Laufey, the wife of Kratos whose funeral opened the 2018 series reboot. The game follows her through the Everywhen — a realm described as the afterlife of the gods — where she encounters deities from multiple mythologies while fighting to protect Kratos and Atreus. The panel, moderated alongside Game Director Ariel Lawrence, offered new details on the game's narrative scope and cast, which includes Jack Quaid and Polina Lee in undisclosed roles.dexerto+3
Santa Monica Studio head of creative Cory Barlog confirmed at the panel that a new Kratos-led God of War game is in development, will release after Laufey, and will connect directly to its story. The announcement builds on comments Barlog made in June, when he told press after the game's State of Play debut that "there's always going to be Kratos games throughout the whole history". Christopher Judge, who voices Kratos, had teased earlier this year that fans would "hear about what we're doing" by late summer.nordic.ign+4
Laufey's February 16 date places it in an increasingly packed window. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is slated for February 12, Persona 4 Revival for February 18, and Fable for February 23, according to IGN's release calendar. The game will also be available on disc, Santa Monica Studio confirmed earlier this month — a detail that carries added weight given Sony's announcement that it will cease producing new physical PlayStation games starting in January 2028.ign+2
