cloudflarecloudflarecloudflareCloudflare on Wednesday released Cloudflare OS, an open-source AI workspace designed to give every enterprise employee access to AI agents, internal company tools, and custom micro-applications through a browser — without requiring developer expertise.
The company said it developed Cloudflare OS initially for its own workforce, where thousands of employees across every function have used it daily since May 2026 to conduct research, create documents, automate tasks, and build small applications tied to live internal data. The platform is now available on GitHub under an Apache 2.0 license.cloudflare+1
"Cloudflare OS is how we run Cloudflare. For AI to truly transform an enterprise, it can't live in a silo or behind a developer bottleneck. Every employee needs the ability to build, iterate, and automate safely," said co-founder and CEO Matthew Prince. "We built this because nothing else did what we needed. Now any company can start from where it took us years to get."cloudflare
The platform combines three elements: an agent workspace grounded in company-curated context and skills, a security and governance framework for accessing internal data, and a platform for building and sharing modifiable apps. Built on Cloudflare Access, the system is zero trust by default — agents start with no permissions and must be explicitly granted access to specific resources. Governed connectors called "Gatekeepers" sit between the AI and external services, enforcing policies on what can be read, changed, or shared.cloudflare+1
Through Cloudflare AI Gateway, organizations can use any AI model provider and route tasks by complexity — sending routine work to smaller models and reserving expensive frontier models for high-reasoning tasks. Administrators can track spending by person, team, or app and set budgets accordingly.cloudflare+1
Because the framework runs on a company's own Cloudflare account, organizations retain ownership of everything they build. Strategic partners Presidio and Happy Cog will offer customized deployments for enterprises with complex requirements. A managed deployment option through the Cloudflare dashboard is planned for the future.cloudflare+1
