engadget+1slashgearengadget+1With less than a day to go before Apple's "Surprise and Shine" event on September 9, multiple accessory manufacturers have already begun listing and selling cases for the company's unannounced foldable iPhone Ultra, effectively confirming the device's existence and revealing key design details ahead of the official unveiling.
Dbrand was among the first to jump the gun, posting nearly 50 grip cases designed for the foldable Ultra handset on its sales page. The Verge noted that Dbrand "seems to know what Apple is announcing tomorrow". MagBak, a Los Angeles-based accessory brand, went further by listing an $89 two-piece Elite case complete with a kickstand, finger loop, and MagSafe compatibility — all engineered from leaked specs rather than official documentation.engadget+2
ESR Tech drew particular attention after posting a video on X showing what appears to be the iPhone Ultra alongside its new case lineup. The move prompted one user to repost it with the caption: "ESR: What NDA?" Other brands including Armor-X and Gorilla Cases have also begun listing cases for the device.slashgear+1
The listings collectively paint a consistent picture of the iPhone Ultra's design. The case cutouts and renders suggest a book-style foldable with a horizontal dual-camera array on the rear panel. According to SlashGear, the device is expected to feature a 7.8-inch unfolded display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and a 5.5-inch cover display, measuring just 4.5 mm thin when unfolded.gadgetreview+1
T3 noted that while ESR's video likely features a dummy unit — with camera lenses that appear to protrude more than expected — the overall form factor aligns with months of prior leaks.t3
Industry analysts expect the iPhone Ultra to carry a price tag of at least $2,000, with some estimates reaching $2,400, driven in part by an ongoing global RAM shortage. Engadget and SlashGear both reported that while the device is expected to be announced at tomorrow's event, it may not ship until later in the year due to the complexity of production.slashgear+1
The September 9 keynote, scheduled for 1 PM ET, will also mark the debut of John Ternus as CEO following Tim Cook's recent departure. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman signaled his own anticipation with a post on X reading simply, "I'm ready".engadget+1
