stocktitan+1blockspace+1finance.yahoo+1Anthropic has reportedly agreed to a six-year, $10 billion computing capacity deal that will see a 133-megawatt data center built at Bitdeer Technologies Group's Tydal campus in Trøndelag, Norway, according to Bloomberg reporting first published on August 4. The facility will be equipped with Nvidia's advanced Vera Rubin chips and powered entirely by renewable hydropower.kucoin+2
The arrangement involves a layered structure: Volta Infra Holdings, a Singapore-based startup founded in January 2026 by former Brookfield infrastructure executives, serves as the intermediary between Anthropic and Bitdeer. Volta announced the agreement but did not publicly identify its customer, describing it only as "a leading AI developer".blockspace+2
Bitdeer detailed a 16-year colocation lease with Volta valued at approximately $4.7 billion in initial contracted revenue, with an eight-year extension option that could bring the total to $8 billion over 24 years. The financial obligations are backed by approximately $1.3 billion in standby letters of credit arranged by J.P. Morgan JPMorgan Chase & Co. affiliates and a second unnamed global financial institution.blockspace+1
Bitdeer estimates remaining capital expenditure at roughly $500 million, or about $4 million per contracted IT megawatt. The facility will deliver 133 megawatts of gross capacity supporting a 121-megawatt IT load, configured entirely for the AI lab's workloads.investing+1
Alongside the data center deal, Bitdeer filed a $1 billion at-the-market share program on August 10, registering up to $1 billion in Class A ordinary shares under an automatic shelf registration statement on Form F-3ASR. The ATM allows Bitdeer to sell shares from time to time at prevailing market prices to fund its data center, high-performance computing, and AI cloud expansion.stocktitan+1
The contracted capacity is scheduled for delivery in two phases, with Phase 1 targeting December 31, 2026, and Phase 2 set for March 31, 2027. Reuters reported it could not independently verify that Anthropic was the unnamed company in the deal, and Anthropic has declined to comment. Volta CEO Ricard Boada also declined to identify the client.kucoin+2
Volta recently secured $300 million in combined seed and Series A funding at a $2.4 billion post-money valuation, with backing from Andreessen Horowitz, Altimeter Capital, Nvidia, and the Michael Dell family office.finance.yahoo
