Amazon Web Services+1blockeden.xyz+1Amazon Web Services, Inc.Amazon Web Services Amazon.com, Inc. has made Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Payments generally available, enabling AI agents to autonomously pay for APIs, data feeds, and digital content using the USDC stablecoin — a move that brings autonomous machine-to-machine financial transactions into production environments.
AWS announced the general availability on August 18, following a preview period that began in May 2026. The service, built in partnership with Coinbase and Stripe, allows developers to equip AI agents with wallets capable of executing microtransactions — often fractions of a cent — without human intervention. Transactions settle in USDC on Base, Ethereum's layer-2 network, with Solana as a second supported chain.Amazon Web Services+2
The general availability release adds several new features, including Quick Create for Coinbase credential provisioning directly within the AgentCore console, a curated marketplace of pay-per-use endpoints via Coinbase's Bazar MCP server, support for the Machine Payment Protocol (MPP) developed jointly by Stripe and Tempo, and an "upto" scheme in the x402 protocol for dynamic pricing use cases.Amazon Web Services, Inc.
When an agent encounters a paid resource and receives an HTTP 402 response, AgentCore handles the protocol negotiation, wallet authentication, stablecoin payment, and proof delivery back to the endpoint — all without interrupting the agent's reasoning loop. Developers connect either a Coinbase CDP wallet or Stripe Privy wallet, and end users can fund wallets through stablecoins directly or via fiat using a debit card.Amazon Web Services+1
The service includes infrastructure-level spending controls. Developers can set maximum amounts per task and define time windows for payments. Requests exceeding those limits are automatically rejected at the system level, regardless of the agent's decision.bloomingbit
AWS describes AgentCore Payments as "the first managed payment capabilities purpose-built for autonomous agents," addressing a growing challenge as more services monetize through pay-per-use models. Traditional payment methods are cost-prohibitive for sub-cent transactions due to minimum transaction fees, making stablecoin rails an economical alternative.Amazon Web Services, Inc.+1
The service is available across multiple AWS regions including US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Europe (Frankfurt), and Asia Pacific (Sydney).Amazon Web Services, Inc.
