ASML breaks ground on massive Eindhoven campus to meet AI chip demand

ASML ↗ 1.89%, the Dutch company that holds a near-monopoly on the machines needed to manufacture advanced semiconductors, broke ground on Tuesday on a massive new industrial campus near Eindhoven, betting that surging demand for artificial intelligence chips will sustain years of growth.

A Second Industrial Campus

The groundbreaking ceremony at Brainport Industries Campus North, attended by Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and Eindhoven Mayor Jeroen Dijsselbloem, launched a multi-phase project that will eventually span approximately 350,000 square meters across 35 hectares of land near Eindhoven Airport, roughly seven kilometers from ASML's headquarters in Veldhoven.stocktitan+1

Relieving a Production Bottleneck

A centerpiece of the new site will be ASML's "flow factory," a next-generation manufacturing model for its TWINSCAN lithography systems inspired by approaches used in the automotive and aerospace industries. The expansion addresses a concrete constraint. ASML shipped 86 new lithography systems in the second quarter, a 28% jump from the prior quarter, and management is already targeting a 30% increase in low-NA EUV capacity for 2027.
