macrumors+1appleinsider9to5mac+1Apple is set to hold its fall launch event on Wednesday, September 9, with a packed lineup that includes the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, the company's first foldable iPhone, new Apple Watch models, and AirPods 5. A new OLED iPad mini is expected to follow by the end of October.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman confirmed in his latest Power On newsletter that AirPods 5 will launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, a foldable iPhone, the Apple Watch Series 12, and the Apple Watch Ultra 4 at the September 9 event, which Apple has branded "Surprise and Shine."9to5mac+1
The foldable iPhone, often referred to as the iPhone Ultra, will be Apple's first entry into the foldable market. The device is expected to feature a 7.8-inch foldable internal display, a 5.3-inch external screen, the A20 Pro chip, 12GB of RAM, and two 48MP rear cameras. Previous rumors have placed the price at $2,000 or higher.appleinsider
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will arrive without their standard-model counterparts, as Apple has staggered the release of non-Pro iPhones to early 2028. Both Pro models are expected to feature a new 2-nanometer A20 Pro chip, a second-generation modem, and possible under-display Face ID. The Pro Max may add a variable-aperture camera for optical bokeh effects.appleinsider
The Apple Watch Series 12 is rumored to include a new health sensor built into its band and the return of ceramic case options. AirPods 5 will come in standard and active noise cancellation versions.ilounge+1
Gurman reported that the new iPad mini with an OLED screen "should go on sale by the end of October," suggesting it will not appear at the September event and will instead be announced separately. The eighth-generation iPad mini is expected to feature a faster chip — possibly the A19 Pro or A20 Pro — along with improved water resistance from a redesigned casing and a new vibration-based speaker system.macrumors+1
The iPad mini last received an update in October 2024 and saw a $100 price increase earlier this year, bringing it to $599.9to5mac
Apple's new operating systems, including iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and watchOS 27, are expected to roll out alongside the September hardware launches. October may also bring updates to the HomePod mini, Apple TV, and a new Home Hub device designed as a central smart home controller with a seven-inch display and integrated camera. A 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip is another candidate for a fall refresh.appleinsider
