theinformation.com+1.anthropic.com+1.tbsnews.net.Anthropic is getting ready to release a new AI model that reasons and uses intuition better than its current models, The Information reported on Monday, October 19. The report arrives as OpenAI, Anthropic and Google, part of Alphabet , have released more than a dozen new models over the past month, and the outlet said the pace is not expected to slow.theinformation.com
The unreleased model is good at working out what users really want and what they are trying to achieve, even when they give it little information, according to a Sina Finance summary of the report. The same summary said the model is also better at thinking creatively, rather than falling back on conventional advice or standard solutions. The Information described the model as stronger in reasoning and intuition than Anthropic's existing models. The report did not say when it will launch or what it will be called.finance.sina.cn
The report follows a busy run of launches. Anthropic introduced Claude Opus 5.5 in late September. The company said Opus 5.5 performs at the level of its top model, Fable 5.1, on most tasks and costs 40% less than its predecessor, SBS reported. On October 7, Anthropic released Claude Haiku 5.5, which it calls its cheapest and fastest small model, and said it costs about 75% less to run than Haiku 4.5. Reuters reported that Haiku 5.5 was the third Claude 5.5 model in a month.news.sbs.co.kr+2
Competition from OpenAI has driven much of that activity. Reuters reported in September that Anthropic was considering a new release to counter momentum from OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra, which came out on September 3, according to a version of the report published by The Business Standard. Astra accounted for about 13% of enterprise AI spending tracked by expense platform Ramp, compared with about 8% for Anthropic's Claude Fable.tbsnews.net
The steady stream of releases sits uneasily with Anthropic's public stance on safety. "We must slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of AI models," CEO Dario Amodei wrote in a September 12 essay, according to Reuters. When it launched Opus 5.5, Anthropic called it "the first model we are releasing since we urged for a slowdown in cutting-edge AI," SBS reported.tbsnews.net+1
Anthropic's planned initial public offering raises the stakes. Reuters reported that the listing could come after the November U.S. midterm elections. Investors expect leadership among Anthropic, OpenAI and Google to change hands repeatedly as each new generation of models arrives, which could make any lead short-lived, according to the same report.tbsnews.net
