theinformationanthropic+2x+1Anthropic has committed to cloud computing deals totaling approximately $517 billion over the past 11 months, according to a report published Sunday by The Information, as the Claude AI maker races to secure enough infrastructure to meet demand for its fast-growing products.theinformation
The figure, which encompasses agreements for at least 14.8 gigawatts of computing capacity since October 2025, reflects one of the most aggressive infrastructure buildouts in the history of technology. The contracts span a web of partners including SpaceX, Google Alphabet Inc. , Amazon Amazon.com, Inc. , Microsoft , and a string of smaller cloud startups that have emerged to serve the AI industry's insatiable appetite for GPUs.theinformation
Anthropic's spending has accelerated sharply in 2026. In May, the company signed a deal with SpaceX for the full capacity of its Colossus 1 data center — more than 300 megawatts and over 220,000 Nvidia GPUs — reportedly worth $1.25 billion per month. In April, Anthropic announced a multi-gigawatt agreement with Google and Broadcom for next-generation TPU capacity expected to come online in 2027. A $30 billion arrangement with Microsoft for Azure capacity was also disclosed.anthropic+2
More recently, Bloomberg reported on August 11 that Anthropic struck a $9.1 billion deal with Riot Platforms for 191 megawatts at a Texas campus. On September 1, a $35 billion agreement with Lambda, another Nvidia-backed cloud provider, was reported by The Wall Street Journal News Corp .bloomberg+2
Among the largest individual agreements is a roughly $45 billion, six-year contract with Nscale, a UK-based AI infrastructure company, first reported by Bloomberg and confirmed by CNBC on August 26. The deal covers 460 megawatts of capacity at Nscale's data center campus in West Virginia, expected to come online by late 2027.cnbc+1
Nscale has since told prospective investors it holds about $103 billion in total contracted revenue — roughly double its pre-Anthropic backlog of $51 billion — as it eyes a New York IPO as soon as this month, according to Reuters, citing documents reviewed by The Information. Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan are advising on the listing, which could raise up to $3 billion.cryptobriefing+2
The spending spree has been driven largely by surging demand for Claude Code, which reached $1 billion in annualized revenue within six months of launch and $2.5 billion within nine months. Anthropic's company-wide annualized revenue was reported at roughly $30 billion by April 2026.serpsculpt+1
Yet the scale of the commitments has raised questions about sustainability. Anthropic has not yet established stable profitability, and many of these contracts stretch years into the future. The contracted figures represent total deal value over multi-year terms — not annual spending — and actual revenue recognition will depend on facilities being built and capacity delivered on schedule.cryptodaily+1
