anthropic.anthropic.anthropic.Anthropic on Friday announced Claude Frontier Academy, a $100 million effort to train 10,000 "Frontier Deployed Engineers" by the end of 2027. The program targets what the company calls one of the biggest problems in getting businesses to adopt AI: a shortage of people who know how to put it to work.anthropic+1
The first cohorts are running now in San Francisco, New York and London. They include engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley and Novo Nordisk. Reuters also reported the commitment.tradingview+1
Anthropic said the Academy's first program, the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency, borrows from medical training: engineers learn from practitioners, work on realistic cases and are tested before they earn a credential. Companies nominate their strongest engineers. Each one arrives with a named Claude project to lead back at their own organization. Applicants don't need prior experience building AI agents.anthropic
Participants start with a multi-day, in-person session alongside Anthropic engineers. They work through a simulated enterprise deployment and finish with a graded practical exam. Those who pass earn a Claude Resident Engineer badge and move into a 12-week residency, where they lead a real project at their own company. A second assessment at the end of the residency awards the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge. Anthropic expects the first graduates in early 2027.anthropic
"A small team of high-agency people with the right skills, access to Claude, and a deep understanding of how their business runs can transform an entire company," said Steve Corfield, Anthropic's global head of business development and partnerships.anthropic
Consulting firms make up much of the first group. "Anthropic built the residency the same way we think about the role: judgment tested against a simulated enterprise deployment, not technical skills in isolation," said Ram Ramalingam, who leads Accenture's forward-deployed engineering work. Commonwealth Bank group CTO Rodrigo Castillo said the bank's teams had "produced up to 3x more code changes in the past year" using AI tools.anthropic
The Academy builds on the Claude Partner Network. According to Anthropic, professionals at 46,000 firms have earned more than 175,000 Claude certifications through the network, and nearly 4,000 people have completed its Basecamp onboarding program. Joining the Academy is by nomination only, through Anthropic account teams or partner managers.anthropic
The launch comes days after Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5 on Sept. 28, a faster and cheaper model built for everyday business work.currently.att.yahoo
