Investing.comcerebras.ai+1HPCwire+1AMD Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. and Cerebras Systems announced a technical partnership on Tuesday to combine AMD's Helios rack-scale infrastructure with Cerebras' Wafer-Scale Engine to deliver what the companies described as an ultra-low latency AI inference solution. The announcement came during Lisa Su's keynote at AMD's Advancing AI 2026 event in San Francisco.cerebras.ai+2
The joint solution splits the inference workload between the two companies' hardware: AMD Helios handles high-throughput prefill processing, while Cerebras' Wafer-Scale Engine manages token generation, mirroring a "divide and conquer" approach Cerebras has employed in its earlier partnership with Amazon Web Services. The system targets latency-sensitive agentic AI workloads and is expected to be available in the second half of 2026, initially through Cerebras Cloud.Investing.com+2
Su used the keynote on Thursday to declare that Helios, AMD's second-generation AI server platform featuring the new MI455X accelerator and Venice CPU, is in full production and will begin shipping by the end of the third quarter. "Customer demand for Helios is extremely strong," Su said, according to Reuters. The rack delivers up to 2.9 exaflops of FP4 compute and was first previewed at CES 2026.Futurum+2
The Cerebras partnership adds another dimension to Helios by pairing AMD's GPU-based throughput with Cerebras' SRAM-based architecture, which Cerebras CEO Andrew Feldman has said runs inference 10 to 30 times faster than traditional GPUs. The approach positions the joint offering for emerging agentic AI applications where response time is critical.youtube
The Cerebras deal followed another headline partnership revealed earlier in the week. On Tuesday, AMD and Anthropic announced plans to deploy up to two gigawatts of AMD Instinct MI450 Series GPUs, with the first gigawatt of deployment beginning in the first half of 2027. AMD shares rose roughly 12% on that news.Bitget+1
Cerebras shares also climbed following the AMD announcement. The stock, which debuted in a May IPO that saw shares surge nearly 70% on their first day of trading, has been building a roster of high-profile infrastructure partnerships this year, including a deal with Amazon in March and a reported agreement with OpenAI valued at more than $20 billion over three years.Yahoo+2
The partnership underscores a broader industry shift toward disaggregated inference architectures, where different chips handle different phases of AI processing rather than relying on a single accelerator for the entire task.
