globalbankingandfinancefinance.yahooglobalbankingandfinance+1Airbus reported a 54% jump in second-quarter adjusted operating profit on Wednesday, beating analyst expectations as a rebound in commercial aircraft deliveries powered the European planemaker's strongest quarterly performance in over a year.
Adjusted EBIT — the company's preferred profitability measure — climbed to €2.43 billion in the three months through June, up from €1.58 billion a year earlier, according to the company's half-year results released after European markets closed on July 29. Revenue rose 28% to €20.53 billion, also topping the analyst consensus estimate of €20.25 billion. Net income more than doubled to €1.66 billion, or €2.10 per share, from €732 million a year earlier.finance.yahoo+3
The commercial aircraft division drove much of the improvement, with divisional revenue surging 37% to €15.4 billion and reported EBIT climbing 150% to €1.95 billion. Airbus Defence and Space also contributed, with revenue up 10% and reported EBIT more than doubling to €408 million.finance.yahoo
The results reflected a pickup in jet handovers following a sluggish first quarter, when Airbus delivered just 114 aircraft. By the end of June, cumulative deliveries had reached 351 jets — a 15% increase over the first half of 2025 and the company's best opening-half result since 2019, according to Reuters. The company has set an internal goal of surpassing 900 deliveries for the first time in 2026, even as its official guidance remains at 870 aircraft.airbus+2
Airbus maintained its 2026 guidance, including a target of roughly €7.5 billion in adjusted EBIT and around 870 commercial aircraft deliveries, representing a 10% increase over last year. Free cash flow before customer financing improved to negative €1.17 billion for the first half, from negative €1.61 billion a year earlier, with the outflow tied to a planned inventory build-up to support the production ramp-up.qz+2
At a capital markets day earlier in July, Airbus laid out plans to nearly double earnings by 2029, underscoring confidence in sustained demand for narrow-body jets.reuters
