Archaeologists have unveiled vivid new frescoes and four previously unknown rooms at Villa di Poppea near Pompeii, offering fresh insights into the lavish residence traditionally associated with Poppaea Sabina, the second wife of Emperor Nero.

The discoveries, announced in late December 2025, center on the Hall of the Mask and the Peacock, one of the villa's most elegant spaces, which has emerged as larger and more architecturally complex than previously believed.
