  • Goldman Sachs, Bank of America , Citi, Deutsche Bank and 17 other institutions committed Tuesday to form a company to issue a dollar stablecoin in early 2027.
  • The consortium grew from 10 banks announced in October 2025 to 21 members spanning North America, Europe, East Asia, the Middle East and Africa, including Fidelity Investments and WisdomTree .
  • The group plans to expand into euro and other G7 currency stablecoins and will compete with Tether's $180 billion dominance and a 37-institution euro stablecoin venture called Qivalis.
