To mark its 100-year milestone in the United Kingdom, Chanel orchestrated an intimate celebration at the V&A East Storehouse in Stratford's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The exclusive event featured a dinner for exactly 100 guests, including house executives such as CEO Leena Nair, president Bruno Pavlovsky, and UK president Elizabeth Anglès d'Auriac.prazzleinc.com+1
The centerpiece of the celebration was a special performance of "Le Train Bleu," a reimagined one-act ballet originally costumed by Gabrielle Chanel in 1924, performed by members of the English National Ballet. Dancers performed against a stunning backdrop featuring Pablo Picasso's "Deux femmes courant sur la plage," a stage cloth whose conservation Chanel has partnered with the V&A to support. This artistic collaboration highlights the brand's historic ties to British culture and continues Gabrielle Chanel's legacy of creative partnerships that have shaped the house's identity over the past century. The Impression+2
As President of Arts, Culture and Heritage at CHANEL, Yana Peel has transformed the fashion house's approach to cultural philanthropy since joining in 2020. Peel describes CHANEL's cultural engagement as "artisanal," focusing on long-term relationships rather than short-term collaborations, creating "conditions for creators to dare" despite challenges. Her vision extends the legacy of Gabrielle Chanel's artistic patronage, which dates back to 1921 when the founder supported Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring."linkedin+1
Under Peel's leadership, CHANEL has launched several significant cultural initiatives, including the CHANEL Culture Fund, CHANEL Connects podcast, and CHANEL Next Prize. One of her proudest achievements is the CHANEL Culture Pass, giving employees privileged access to cultural institutions. Born in St. Petersburg and educated at McGill University and LSE, Peel brings extensive experience from her previous roles as CEO of Serpentine Galleries and co-founder of Outset Contemporary Art Fund, approaching her CHANEL position as "the combination of a life's worth of work" bridging finance, resources, and culture.Aspen Ideas Festival+1
Arts & Culture Magazine Vol. 1 stands out as a tactile, immersive experience rather than a conventional publication. The magazine features a striking cover showcasing a bronze bust of Gabrielle Chanel by Jacques Lipchitz from 1921, cleverly styled with metallic sunglasses from Chanel's Fall 2002 collection—a visual representation of the brand's balance between heritage and innovation.Oui Speak Fashion (OSF)®+1
Inside, readers discover a rich tapestry of content including interviews, portfolios, critical texts, and visual narratives from Chanel-supported projects worldwide. The publication employs varied paper textures throughout its 250 pages, creating a multi-sensory experience. Symbolic elements abound, including gold-trimmed, shell-shaped trays holding pearls, bottles of Chanel No. 5, and lion motifs referencing Gabrielle Chanel's Leo zodiac sign—all weaving together a narrative that connects the brand's past, present, and future cultural contributions. The Fashionography+3
