notateslaapp+1notateslaappnotateslaappTesla on Tuesday launched Grok Bot capability inside its vehicles, expanding the in-car Grok assistant from a conversational chatbot into an agent that can manage email, calendars, online purchases, and errands entirely by voice while the driver's hands stay on the wheel — or off it, if Full Self-Driving is engaged.
"Grok in your Tesla can now do meaningful work for you," Tesla wrote in a post on X announcing the feature on September 22. "With Connectors, you can manage your inbox, clean up your calendar, or talk through existing files/chat/tasks — all hands-free."notateslaapp+1
The system has two layers. Connectors are secure links to third-party services such as Gmail and Google Calendar that any Tesla owner can configure through the Grok app. Grok Bot, which sits on top of those connections, handles multi-step tasks — placing a coffee order, booking a reservation, checking out an Amazon Amazon.com, Inc. cart — using voice alone.techeblog+1
Drivers activate Grok by tapping its icon in the App Launcher, long-pressing the steering wheel microphone button, or saying "Hey Grok." Early-access users demonstrated the workflow in real time on Tuesday. One user ordered a Starbucks drink while FSD navigated to the store, with Grok confirming the order and total before submitting it for pickup. Another used the voice interface to manage email, calendar entries, and Amazon orders without opening a separate app.notateslaapp+2
No new application appears on the center display. Grok Bot runs within the existing Grok session, alongside cabin controls for navigation, climate, music, and phone calls. The feature requires an AMD infotainment processor, software version 2025.26 or later, and Premium Connectivity or a solid Wi-Fi connection.techeblog
At launch, Grok Bot's task-delegation features are restricted to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers, who pay $300 per month, though Tesla says additional subscription tiers will gain access in future rollouts. Connectors themselves remain open for anyone to set up.notateslaapp+1
Tesla still considers the in-car assistant to be in beta. Grok can place phone calls from a linked device but cannot yet send text messages. The company is also working on deeper integration between Grok and Full Self-Driving aimed at what it describes as a "chauffeur-like experience".techeblog+2
