Google unveils Googlebook laptop line with Gemini AI

Google Alphabet Inc. ↗ 0.21% and Qualcomm ↘ 5.82% on Monday unveiled the Googlebook, a new category of laptops built around Google's Gemini Intelligence and powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite chip. What's Inside

The Snapdragon X Elite at the core of the Dell XPS Googlebook and HP Googlebook 14 features a 12-core Oryon CPU clocking up to 4GHz, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and support for up to three external 4K displays. The Acer and Asus models use Intel ↘ 0.18% Core Ultra Series 3 (Panther Lake) processors instead, while the Lenovo Googlebook 15 also runs on Intel.cgmagonline+1

All models feature OLED touchscreens, Dolby Atmos audio, fingerprint sensors, and the return of the "Glowbar," an LED light strip that reacts to power-on, battery status, and Gemini interactions. MediaTek Waits in the Wings

Separately, MediaTek announced the Dimensity CX C10 Max, a 3nm chip with 55 TOPS of AI performance designed specifically for Googlebooks. The chip, paired with an Immortalis G925 GPU, claims roughly 15% better multi-core performance than the Snapdragon X Elite in Geekbench 6. The MediaTek option may also address a looming concern: affordability. Only the Acer model hits Google's stated entry price of $899, and that is a limited-time offer.
