  • MTV, 1981'de başlayan 44 yıllık yayın hayatını sonlandırarak 31 Aralık'ta dünya genelindeki 24 saatlik özel müzik kanallarını kapattı. MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV ve MTV Live gibi kanallar İngiltere, İrlanda, Avustralya, Polonya, Fransa, Brezilya ve diğer ülkelerde yayından kaldırıldı.
  • Kapanışlar, Paramount Skydance'in Ağustos 2025'te tamamlanan 8 milyar dolarlık birleşmesinin ardından uyguladığı maliyet düşürme önlemlerinin bir parçası. Şirket, izleyicilerin müzik tüketim alışkanlıklarının geleneksel televizyon yerine YouTube, TikTok ve Spotify gibi platformlara kayması nedeniyle yıllık 500 milyon dolar tasarruf etmeyi hedefliyor.
  • MTV Music'in son yayınında, 1981'de MTV'yi başlatan aynı video olan The Buggles'ın "Video Killed the Radio Star" klibi yer aldı. Eski MTV VJ'i Simone Angel, BBC'ye verdiği demeçte kalbinin kırıldığını belirterek, "MTV her şeyin bir araya geldiği yerdi" dedi.
